Abstract
Sport plays a crucial role in building social networks and personal empowerment, especially for women. Regular physical activity improves confidence, physical skills and the ability to overcome challenges, promoting an empowered identity in different areas of social life. In addition, these activities contribute to overall goals such as gender equity, quality of life and personal development, fostering self-management, decision-making and female autonomy. The present study analyses the relationship between physical-sports practice and the level of empowerment in Spanish adult women. A questionnaire was used to compare active and sedentary women on key dimensions such as social satisfaction, security and equality. The results highlight that physical activity has a positive impact on empowerment, providing concrete tools for their improvement. It highlights the transformative potential of sport activities not only in physical health, but also in building a more equal society and strengthening the role of women in various contexts. The role of public and private entities is essential, avoiding practices such as genderwashing.
