Abstract
The chosen topic for this communication is the education in Christian values of creation, which constitutes a fundamental element for peace education from a transcendent dimension. As Pope Francis states in Laudato Si’ (2015), it is necessary to update the Christian message and educate in human ecology, raising awareness among the younger generations about the responsibility to care not only for nature but for the entire human person. It is essential to teach and educate in the moral responsibility that everything created is a gift from God to humanity, and that this gift must be cared for (LS 5).This paper aims to demonstrate that updating the Christian message through integral ecology is crucial for laying the foundations of a holistic education that encompasses the entire person and all of their dimensions. The concept of Christian ecology will be developed as a new framework for renewing human and Christian values. Drawing on the concepts of eco-theology presented by the eco-theologian Leonardo Boff (Brazil, 1938), as well as Pope Francis's contributions to the topic of integral ecology and Christian ecology through his extensive teachings, we will reflect on how everything in creation is interconnected: the fate of the planet is tied to that of humanity. As a result, we will propose an educational approach that consists of teaching a new social, economic, and spiritual ecology, offering a new perspective on values education. Finally, this paper seeks to demonstrate that educating the new generations in thefundamental values of creation through integral ecology is essential for building integral individuals capable of making structural changes that foster more fraternal, supportive, and peaceful societies
