Abstract

Textual analysis and the decomposition of an audiovisual work in the study of each of its shots finds in the itemizations by scenes or acts a correlate that in many occasions is one of the most exhaustive ways of analyzing a film or a TV series as well. For the 75th anniversary of The Third Man (Carol Reed, 1948) Spanish premiere, we propose a complete découpage that not only has illustrious precedents but also reveals stimulating aspects, such as the proportion of its famous aberrant shots, the meaning of the last and no less famous shot or the differences between the novel and the script.
