Abstract

The objective of this paper is to show a space designed for studying and working in groups in thelobby of the Building Pavilion of the Polytechnic School of Cáceres, transformed as an ephemeralarchitecture for a few weeks a year in a sensory inclusive nativity scene assembly to be touchedby blind people. The design is based on a kiosk with four pillars of different and variable sectionstopped with a gabled roof with irregular geometry, made with galvanized steel metal profiles andconstruction solutions in laminated plasterboard. This space is used for the seasonal assembly ofsome temporary installation, such as the inclusive nativity scene. The results are verifiedthroughout the course with the main use and a few weeks a year with the secondary use, attracting blind people and others with various disabilities to the Polytechnic School, with highsocial impact and benefits provided beyond the academic field. The originality lies fundamentallyin the combination of the collaboration of the company supplying the product with the university,on the one hand, and entities that care for people with disabilities on the other. All of thisrepresents a permanent and discreet showcase for teachers, students and administrative staff, and the opening of university facilities to people with disabilities, in universally accessibleenvironments, within the constitutional framework.
