Desarrollo endógeno y gobernanza, claves para el desarrollo del ecoturismo en Alta Verapaz

Abstract

The Endogenous Development and Government are key for the development of ecotourism in Alta Verapaz. The investigación covers 5 cities of the North Region which are part of the denominated The Northern Transversal Strip. It has social relevance due to the fact that it provides benefits to a part of the rural population. The objective is centered in generating conditions to create a model of social, competitive, and sustainable economy, through the development of community tourism, focused on ecotourism. Low educational levels represent a limiting factor for the development of the Branding and the chain of value in the final destination, which results in fleeting marketing in the minds of tourists. In this sense, the support of non-governmental civil organizations and international cooperation, play a fundamental role in the development of Community tourism in Guatemala. The rural context is a pending agenda of the State of Guatemala, while there is no proper coverage of pedagogical and androgogical education, the search of technical assistance, training, and economic support is essential to focus in external processes, that develop endogenous and governmental development for the development, promotion, and strengthening of community tourism focused on ecotourism. A social intervention plan was designed to solve the deficiencies detected during the process of investigation and that influences in the slow touristic development taking into account as a reference point the lessons learned of past interventions.
