Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate physical activity levels, life habits and anthropometrics and physical conditioning paramteres in high school students, according gender and academic grade. 400 students participated in this study (100 boys and 100 girls of 12th grade; and 100 boys and 100 girls of 13th grade). Ad-hoc questionary was performed for physical activity and life styles. Total weight, BMI and fat% were used as anthropometric parameters. Physical conditioning were measured using upper limb and lower limb strength test and maximal oxigen uptake test. The results showed better life habits, anthropometrics and physical conditioning parameters in 12th high school students, than 13th students. A relationship between negative life habits (sedentary behavior, alcohol and tobbaco consume) and worse physical conditioning levels could exist. In general, active teenagers have better VO2 max levels. Harfull habits and physical activity reduced are increased in 13th high school students. So, it is necesary to promote programs oriented to improved the life stiles in these population group, incluiding an increase in the number of teaching of physical education.
