Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyze the relationship between the coordination capabilities and the self-perception of motor competence in 533 adolescents, 271 men and 261 women. To measure the coordination capabilities, the coordination tests of the Condición Física y Salud (COFISA) battery were implemented and the Self-perceived motor competence was determined by adolescents among three categories (high, intermediate or low). The results show that coordination capabilities are consistently related with SelfPerception of Motor Competence in adolescents, through its division in low (2 = 4,1724; p<0.0005; 2 = 3,3160; p<0.0005), intermediate (2 = 5,0590; p<0.0005; 2 = 5,4417 p<0.0005) or high (2 = 7,0746 p<0.0005; 2 = 7, 1377; p<0.0005) self perception of motor competence. The coordination capabilities are related with the Self-Perception of Motor Competence in adolescents. Programs focus on increasing them should be implemented in schools aiming the adherence to sport practice
