Abstract

The aim of this work was to analyze the distances covered according to the padel players’ role at the beginning of the point and to know the differences regarding level of play. 2202 points corresponding to 18 matches from two paddle tournaments played by 32 male players (Age = 33.81 ± 6.72 years) were analyzed. The sample was divided into two levels of play (advanced and beginners) and players’ role into 4 different categories depending on their position at the beginning of the point (server, returner, server partner and returner partner). Matches were recorded and processed through SAGIT program and analyzed through systematic observation. Results showed that approximately 40% of padel players recovered distances of less than 8 meters. In addition, lower level players recovered lower distances per point than higher level players. Finally, serving player is the one who recover the most distance per point, followed by the returning player, while the partners of the serve and return players are the ones who recover the least distances per point, both in advanced and initiation. Knowledge of these parameters can have an important practical application to training and competition.
