Résumé
Objective to analyze ergonomic risk factors in a metallurgical industry company. Methodology thirteen workers in the “machetes” production area were studied, rotating randomly between 40 operations. A review of the ergonomic information contained in the company was carried out; it continues with a personalized assessment for each job to understand the initial diagnostic situation. The evaluators performed a risk prioritization by applying the RULA Method (Rapid Upper Limb Assessment) arguing the need to categorize and classify the level of risk; then they developed an action plan for the company aimed at prevention. Results the risk to fifteen sections was determined, being the production operations with more ergonomic risk:”to bring machetes to paint”, “to power beam walker”, “loading the machete to the platform” and “to bring material to laminate”. Recommendations from the Occupational Therapy discipline were proposed. This discipline analyzes health, education and work and encourages the occupational performance of clients, their welfare and their participation in healthy environments from a self-care culture. Conclusions it provides a sense of control over the environment, and a sense of achievement and competence leading to a better quality of life, this paper includes an action plan aimed to prevent ergonomic risk, and potentiating the organizational culture of safety at work. Finally, the importance of consolidation of occupational therapy enable risk management from person-environment-occupation is evident, remembering that these dimensions are constantly changing and the form of these changes affects the occupational performance.
