Abstract

The evolution from homogenisation in the methodological treatment of everyone to dispersion has caused an epistemological problem in the area of Physical Education. The aim of this theoretical review was to defne the concepts associated with the current didactic methodology in order to establish a consensus and advance in the development of the same in order to provide a response to the current student body. The search included articles published from 1966 to 2020. Electronic databases in English and Spanish were used. Keywords were used to compile the main articles. Articles not written in English and Spanish, non-original articles or theoretical reviews, and articles that did not show full text were excluded. This theoretical review analyses methodology in Physical Education from teaching styles to emerging pedagogical models, including relevant concepts such as gamifcation or competence tasks.
