Abstract

In the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the need to ensure the highest possible level of health in childhood is contemplated, being also a priority objective at the educational and health level in the world.Nutrition is one of the determining factors that most influences the state of health of people, with childhood and adolescence being key periods. The World Health Organization points out that inadequate nutrition in early childhood is one of the main risk factors for poor health throughout life, and is also directly related to the onset of chronic diseases in adulthood. The aforementioned convention also states that this population group has the right to access to a comprehensive education that takes into account all the dimensions of the person (physical, mental and social). The following is a study of the eating habits of the adolescent population which, based on these children's rights, justifies the importance of intervention programs at the educational level to promote correct eating habits from childhood as a means of protecting and promoting health.
