Abstract

This article wants to provide the theological foundation of the ministry of the church based on the documents of the Vatican Council II. The ministerial unity of the church and the diversity of ecclesiastical ministries are complementary with the airn of comunicating to mankind the salvation willed by God in Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. The two parts which this study consists of are both focused in the theological principies which offer the foundation both for ministerial unity as well as the diversity of ministeries: the charismatic origin in the gifts of the Spirit, the unity of the ecclesiastical apostolicity based on the sacrarnent of Baptism, the particular needs of the ecclesiastical comunity -ad extra and ad intra- and the ministerial complementariness in favour of the unity of the community. Starting from these theological-ecclesiological foundations we will study the ordained rninisteries and the seculars in the exercising of their specific ministeries.
