Zusammenfassung
Ultrasound (US) provides mechanical stimulation to thetissues by means of high-frequency, small-amplitudepressure waves. Ultrasound has been shown to havepositive biological effects, including increased angiogenic, chondrogenic, and osteogenic activities. An increasein prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production, osteoblast andfibroblast proliferation, and increased collagen, interleukin, and vascular endothelial growth factor productionhave been reported to occur with the application ofultrasound. The aim of our study was to evaluate the evidenceavailable in the scientific literature for the ultrasoundtreatment for tendon healing.
