Abstract
Loneliness is a classic theme of spirituality that has now become a serious social problem. The context of late modernity, both at the level of culture and social dynamics, not only increases its incidence, but also gives it particular characteristics that spirituality has to take up as a challenge. Called to discover the «sonorous solitude» of the mystics, we have to walk the paths of solitude as a human wound that is more problematic today than in other periods of history. The dialogue of spirituality with our culture can help to make them more humanly passable while at the same time responding to this new social scourge.
