Abstract
The interest in generating greater satisfaction in couples and preventing this satisfaction from deteriorating is growing worldwide and, above all, in Western culture. The aim of this research is to study whether in couples with at least one year of cohabitation, the application of couple life maintenance programs can generate differences in their level of marital satisfaction in contrast with the results in other couples who had not received them; and, whether the possible improvements that may have occurred can be affected by the impact of work burnout and couple burnout. A quasi-experimental design was carried out, assigning 60 couples either to the maintenance program or to the waiting list, measuring couple satisfaction through the MSI-R (Snyder, 2008) and the MSS (Roach et al., 1981). The Maslach Burnout Inventory (Maslach et al., 1996), and the Couples Burnout Questionnaire (Pines, 1996) were also administered. This research may be helpful in informing couples about the benefits of a Maintenance Program and the dependence of these benefits on previous levels of burnout in the work context and couple burnout.
