Resumo

In this article, the authors highlight the impact that the Cold War had on the educational field and, especially, on the development and promotion of Comparative Education. In this sense, the launch of Sputnik on October 4, 1957 marked a turning point and thus the West set its sights on the educational system of the Soviet Union. For this reason, Comparative Education –a discipline with a long tradition in the field of pedagogy– found a fertile field for its development, with authors such as Juan Tusquets (1901-1998) who introduced it as a university subject in Spain and the North American of origin Polish George Z. F. Bereday (1920-1983), whose methodological works and on Soviet education circulated in our country. In short, the Cold War also had its pedagogical correlate in the social and educational study of the Soviet Union, especially in the years of greatest tension between 1957 and 1969.
