Abstract
Conceptions or beliefs about mathematics and mathematics education occupy a relevant role in the research agenda on mathematics education and also on the history of mathematics and mathematics education. Considering so, this study aims to find out the conceptions about mathematics and its teaching and learning expressed in an 18th century periodical publication, which was not specialized in mathematics nor in sciences: Correo (de los ciegos) de Madrid. In order to do so, a descriptive research has been carried out using content analysis as a research technique and focusing on three aspects: mathematics, its teaching and its learning. The results show that this general publication included mathematical concepts that reflect some interesting ideas regarding to the teaching and learning of this discipline.
