Abstract

As an extension of Dias and Mendes (2010) study, the main goal of this work was to verify if traditional and popular games have been taught at first degree of elementary education (i.e., 6 to 10 years old). Results show that teachers teach regularly this kind of games and they consider relevant for children´s learning. The traditional games have a massive importance to lifespan children´s development giving and representing a privileged means of promoting physical activity and sport for active lifestyles.
