Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the level of intercultural sensitivity within the students of Secondary Compulsory Education. More specifically, it starts from a concrete reality, the students of two schools from the region of Salamanca. The selection of said schools is based on their ownership, in other words, one is private and another one public. In order to continue this research a descriptive study based on a survey. That survey was reworded from the Intercultural Sensitivity Scale of Chen and Starosta (2000). In total 221 students responded, from the first school year of Secondary Compulsory Education to the fourth, based on their availability. The analysis done, show extreme results, which makes it impossible to establish a concrete level of intercultural sensitivity for the students. This means that there is a need for a higher awareness towards other cultures.
